Today’s Lineup-Trade Note

A day after the St. Louis Cardinals announced their fifth starter, Carlos Martinez will be available out of the bullpen as the setup man for the first time this Spring Training. Manager Mike Matheny named Joe Kelly as the fifth starter after Sunday’s win.

The three pitchers left to battle for what should eventually become Jason Motte’s spot in the bullpen will also be available today—Keith Butler, Scott McGregor, and Jorge Rondon. Randy Choate,  Seth Maness, Pat Neshek,

Kevin Siegrist, and Trevor Rosenthal will also make the trip to Port St. Lucie to face the New York Mets this afternoon.

DETROIT GETS THEIR SS

–Multiple reports from the likes of The Baltimore Sun and The Detroit Free Press that shortstop Alex Gonzalez has been traded from the Orioles to the Tigers in exchange for Steve Lombardozzi. The move would satisfy Detroit’s need at the position with Jose Iglesias out with stress fractures for a few months.

–St. Louis Soccer Partners will be holding a Trivia Night on Friday, April 4th to benefit the Brace for Impact 46 charity which was founded by Kyle McClellan to assist orphans in Haiti.
