Following the 2012 season, Kyle Lohse was one of the last of the St. Louis Cardinals to clean out his locker in the clubhouse–knowing that it was all but a finality that his time with the team was done. The right-hander and many of his teammates were disappointed that he would be heading into free agency instead of remaining with the team that a year before finished a historic comeback to win the World Series and came within a victory of having the chance to repeat.
Lohse wound up signing with division-rival Milwaukee and heading into tonight’s matchup, he has faced his former squad six times with only one win to show for it.
In those six starts, Lohse (1-4) has allowed 23 earned runs on 46 hits in 34 innings pitched.
While Carlos Beltran (.481, 4 HRs, 13 RBIs) has moved on, there remains plenty of other bats in the lineup that have made life difficult for their former colleague…
Yadier Molina .579 (11-14) 3 HRs 8 RBIs
Matt Holliday .370 (10-27) HRs, 4 RBIs
Jon Jay .364 (4-11) 3 RBIs
Even newer Cardinals like Matt Adams (.429, 3-7, RBI) and Kolten Wong (.667, 4-6, HR, 3 RBIs) have gotten in on the fun.
Lohse opposes Lance Lynn tonight in Milwaukee, first pitch is set for 6:10pm CT.
