Both the St. Louis Cardinals and Oakland A’s will have an outfielder returning to their active roster as their two game series gets underway tonight. Marcell Ozuna and Stephen Piscotty have both been reinstated from the 10-day Injured List.
On the IL since suffering finger fractures to his right hand on June 28th, Ozuna missed 28 games with the Cardinals. His 62 RBIs still leads the team. In three rehab assignment games with Memphis (AAA) this week, Ozuna was 4-for-9 (.444) with a home run and 6 RBIs.
To make room for Ozuna on the active roster, outfielder Tyler O’Neill has been placed on the 10-day IL with a left wrist strain, retroactive to August 1st.
Out since June 30th with a sprained right knee, Piscotty had been on a rehab assignment with Las Vegas (AAA) and went 7-for-23 (.304) with a home run, three RBI and two walks in five games.
Piscotty appeared in three games in right field and two at designated hitter with the Aviators.
The A’s also announced they claimed catcher Dustin Garneau off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels, where he batted .232 with two home runs and seven RBI in 28 games over two stints with the team.
