Opening Day 2019

For the eighth time in the last ten years, the St. Louis Cardinals will be part of MLB’s Opening Day on the road as they take on the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park this afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:10pm CT.

The Cardinals have a record of 58-67-2 on Opening Day and have faced Milwaukee three times to start the season (1-2) with the last being in 2004.

For the Cardinals, Yadier Molina (6-27, .222) and Paul Goldschmidt (6-22, .273) have the most plate appearances against Chacin, but Dexter Fowler (5-8, .625) and Marcell Ozuna (6-12, .500) have had the most success.

This will be the first Opening Day start for Miles Mikolas, who went 18-3 with a 2.83 ERA last season for St. Louis. He was 3-0 in four starts against Milwaukee last year with two of those wins coming in Miller Park.

For Milwaukee, Travis Shaw (5-11,.455) and Christian Yelich (2-12,.167) have the most plate appearances against Mikolas. Ryan Braun has yet to record a hit against the Cardinals starter.
