NLCS Game 4: Starting Lineups

The good news, Yadier Molina tried a few swings with the bat this afternoon. The bad news, he’s not ready to so in a game.

“He tried taking a few swings and it didn’t feel real great, as expected,” shared Manager Mike Matheny.  “Still continuing to feel good as he goes out and plays catch and throwing, receiving, doing the things he needs to behind the plate are all fine.”

As a result, A.J. Pierzynski will start again tonight behind the plate for the St. Louis Cardinals as they try to even the NLCS against San Francisco at 2 wins apiece.

“As you go down individually go through that order, I like the things that we saw yesterday,” said Matheny of his lineup, which with the exception of Shelby Miller pitching remains the same as Game 3. “The guys at the top put together tough at‑bats, and Holliday was a couple inches from changing that game late, right down to what the guys at the bottom did.  They all did their part.  I thought A.J. did a nice job behind the plate.”

Bruce Bochy is also keeping the same lineup intact for San Francisco.
