The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the recall of outfielder Lane Thomas, who will take the place on the active roster of Harrison Bader–who was optioned to Memphis (AAA) yesterday.
Joining Bader in Memphis will be Marcell Ozuna, who officially begins his rehab assignment tonight with the Redbirds.
This is the fourth big league stint this season for Thomas, who made his MLB debut on April 17th. He was hitting .347 (26-75) with 6 HRs and 19 RBIs this month at Memphis.
The Cardinals also announced they have claimed left-handed pitcher Adalberto Mejía from the Los Angeles Angels. The 26-year old reliever will be added to the 25-man roster upon reporting.
In a combined 17 games this season between Minnesota and Los Angeles, Mejía has a record of 0-2 with a 7.32 ERA and three Holds. He has struck out 21 batters and walked 13 in 19.2 innings pitched. Overall, Mejía owns a career mark of 6-9 with a 4.55 ERA in 44 games (25 starts).
Infielder Jedd Gyorko was moved to the 60-day Injured List to make room for Mejía on the Cardinals 40-man roster.
