St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez made his second start of the Dominican League on Sunday, going six strong innings for the Aguilas Cibaenas. He faced 2o batters and allowed just one run on four hits while striking out five.
Martinez improved to 1-0 for Aguilas and lowered his earned run average to 2.89. He has now thrown a total of 9.1 innings and is expected to be make at least two more starts.

WINTER MEETINGS KICK-OFF
–Major League Baseball executives have gathered in San Diego, CA for the annual Winter Meetings. While the Cardinals have filled two large needs in trading for Jason Heyward and Jordan Walden, there still remains a search for an additional right-handed bat off the bench to add depth at first base.
Starting pitchers such as Jon Lester and Max Scherzer remain on the free agent market, but trade rumors abound regarding various teams interest in pitchers like David Price and Jordan Zimmerman who are in the last season of their contracts.
GOLDEN ERA HoF
–The Golden Era Hall of Fame inductees will be announced on Monday. Former Cardinals Dick Allen, Ken Boyer, and Jim Kaat are among the 10 candidates on the ballot. A panel of Hall of Fame players, veteran media members, and baseball executives are on the selection committee. 12 of 16 votes are required for a candidate to be voted into Cooperstown.
