Jaime Garcia Set for Debut

It has been one year and one day since Jaime Garcia last started a game for the St. Louis Cardinals, but he will finally be back on the mound at Busch Stadium today–making his 100th Major League appearance (91st start).

The left-hander had his season ended last year by shoulder surgery to repair his labrum and rotator cuff, and then was sidelined by bursitis in Spring Training.

Garcia made a pair of rehab starts which totaled seven innings pitched for Springfield (AA) and Memphis (AAA).

Garcia is on a 95 pitch-count this afternoon–which is part of the reason the team is waiting until Tuesday to activate Jason Motte. Jorge Rondon was optioned to Memphis to make room for Garcia on the active roster.
