DeJong Activated from DL

After missing the last 45 games, Paul DeJong has been activated from the disabled list and will be the starting shortstop tonight for the St. Louis Cardinals.

To make room on the active roster, pitcher Austin Gomber was optioned to Memphis (AAA).

Hit by a pitch on May 17th, DeJong required surgery to repair a fractured left fifth metacarpal.

Sharing that his grip strength had returned, DeJong recently spent four games on rehab assignment with Memphis, where he hit .308 (4-13) with a home run, two doubles, and three RBIs.

DeJong will bat sixth tonight in the lineup…

–Named to the PCL All-Star team last week, Patrick Wisdom was today chosen to participate in the Triple-A Home Run Derby. The event is scheduled for Monday, July 9th at 8:15 p.m. (CT).

Currently with 12 home runs, Wisdom hit 31 bombs last year, which was tied for fourth-most in the PCL and led all Cardinals minor leaguers.

Since May 1st, Wisdom is hitting .316 (65-for-206).
