Despite no game on the schedule for today, the St. Louis Cardinals have made some adjustments to their active roster–announcing that catcher Yadier Molina has been activated from the 10-day Injured List and outfielder Randy Arozarena has had his contract purchased from Memphis (AAA).
In addition, outfielder Jose Martinez has been placed on the 10-day IL (shoulder) and catcher Andrew Knizner has been optioned to Memphis.
Martinez left yesterday’s game before the top of the 5th inning after a catch against the right field wall caused discomfort in his right shoulder. That has now been diagnosed as an AC joint sprain.
The Cardinals Minor League Player of the Month in both June and July, Arozarena has put together an offensive line of .368/.442/.568 in 52 games at Memphis this season.
Arozarena will wear uniform No. 66.
–A couple of hours after their roster moves, the Cardinals tweeted that assistant hitting coach Mark Budaska had been dismissed from the team.
The St. Louis Cardinals have relieved Mark Budaska of his duties as assistant hitting coach.
