IT BEGAN TODAY FOR MUSIAL
–The iconic career of Stan “The Man” Musial began on this date seventy three years ago–September 17, 1941 as he made his debut with the St. Louis Cardinals in the second game of a doubleheader against the Boston Braves.
Playing in right field and batting third, Musial went 2-4 in the game and drove in a pair of runs.
Musial would appear in a total of 12 games the end of that 1941 season–and provided a precursor of things to come as he hit .426 (20-47) with four doubles, a home run, and seven runs batted in.
